If the thought of seeing Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War wasn’t sending your head reeling already, the latest word is that the entire thing will be shot using IMAX cameras. Up to now, only segments of film, usually the main action scenes, have ever been shot with the costly and overly bulky equipment, however, a newer more lightweight 2D digital camera is going to be employed by the Russo brothers, making Avengers: Infinity War the first movie to be completely shot in IMAX.
For those of us interested in seeing how something like that would ultimately affect the quality of the movie, we’ll soon find out with 15 minutes of Captain America: Civil War set to be filmed with the new equipment.
As with the movies to date, 3D rendering will be post production but I for one can’t wait to see how this turns out.
