News has broken today that the critically acclaimed spy comedy Kingsman: The Secret Service will be receiving a sequel. No official statement has been made, but reports from The Wrap say that Fox is already in development, but the director and creator of Kingsman, Matthew Vaughn, may not return to the sequel as he is already slated to direct the upcoming reboot of Flash Gordon.
Based on the 2012 Icon Comics miniseries, penned by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service  tells the story of a super secretive spy organisation that recruits an unrefined, common street kid to be their next agent via a deadly competition between other recruits, all while a super villain tech genius is plotting to destroy the world and sweep the rug out from under the organisation.
The film stars Academy Award winners Colin Firth and Michael Caine alongside Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong and newcomers Taron Egerton, Sofia Boutella and Sophie Cookson. The film was a huge success with both critics and fans alike, with our very own Anthony McGlynn giving it a solid 9/10.
We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for new of the super secret sequel over the coming months, so stay tuned folks!
