Few shows can boast the kind of lingering relevance that The Simpsons has manage over the course of its tenure, and it’s with a heavy heart that we report that one the show’s parents, Sam Simon, has passed away at 59.
Sam was involved in the first four years of the show, and has died as a result of colon cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2012.
In addition to his award winning work on The Simpsons, his credit can be found on episodes of Taxi and Cheers. He was also a passionate animal-lover, growing infamous for buying zoos only to free the animals held therein after purchase. He will be missed.
