No don’t let the headline fool you, the long awaited 1/6th scale action figures of the Arcade staff haven’t arrived yet, but we got the next best thing.
When rumours of this first started to surface it sound like a joke or a pipedream of an aging fanboy but NO… it has been confirmed to be real with an estimated release date of the second quarter this year.
I am of course talking about the Neo Geo X! Against all logic Blaze has licensed the Neo Geo property and created a portable version of that holy grail of arcade/home gaming. The system itself will come loaded with 20 “classic” Neo Geo games.

Looking at that list I didn’t recognise half of them as “classic”, in terms of what one typically thinks of “classic”. There is a confirmed SD slot so more games will be happening in the future. It will probably be more expensive than Blaze’s other handheld gaming devices, but will cost considerably less than acquiring a Neo Geo.
For those of you who might not remember the Neo Geo, take a seat and listen to Old Man Sean talk about the way back when. The Neo Geo was created in 1990, and boasted an amazing “24-bit” colour system as opposed to its competitors 16, but what made the system special was the fact it was practically identical to the Arcade versions, So the carts you plugged into your home machine were the same as the ones in Arcade boards. This level of power of course came with a hefty price tag, with an original asking price of $650 at launch, and the price never really dipped for its life time.
