It is inevitable, according to reviews, that Final Fantasy XIII’s sequel will have a sequel of it’s own. While the game hasn’t even been released on our end yet, various reviewers seem to be of the same opinion, even stating that the ending features a ‘to be continued’ screen. The US magazine ‘Game Informer’ had the following to say about it;
“You aren’t even getting a complete story,” they write. “The canonical ending (there are multiple other ‘what if’ endings) concludes with the words ‘to be continued’. After the credits, I sat in disbelief, wondering if I had done something wrong or somehow missed the true ending. I didn’t. Square Enix intentionally left the story incomplete. The announcement of Final Fantasy XIII-3 is inevitable.”
Our initial thoughts led to wonders if this could be hinting at future DLC, though Game Informer states that the ending leaves this to be highly unlikely, and that it is “not likely to be resolved with future DLC.”
