I admit I haven’t been paying much attention to the adaptation of The Mist that has been in development for a while. I thought it’d be a rehash of the movie and novella, but fortunately it’s not the case.

These two featurettes have put the series back in the radar. Especially because of the way Christian Torpe, the showrunner and creator, talks about the whole thing. It looks like the novella is just a starting point from which they’ll branch out to different stories. The film (and novella) focused only on the people on the supermarket, but it looks like this show has a bigger scope.

In this other video, the cast talk about Stephen King and what they think about his work.

The Mist will premiere over the summer, and this season will have 10 episodes. I’m wondering if it can go toe to toe with Frank Darabont‘s adaptation. That film was my favourite film experience because I was the only person seeing it on that cinema, and that made things eerie.

All in all, maybe it’s also time to read the novella. I have a copy of the book that has the story somewhere in my room. It’s a good year to be a fan of Stephen King, the Mr Mercedes tv show is also coming on the summer, Castle Rock is in development. And when it comes to movies we have It, The Dark Tower, and Gerald’s Game!
