“It’s a scary clown, but to me they’re all scary.” Stephen King
A month ago Bill Skarsgard landed the role of Pennywise on New Line Cinema’sIt adaptation. More announcements followed this about the Losers’ Club and the Bowers’ gang. But photos of Skarsgard in character were notably absent.
Fortunately, the wait is over. Entertainment Weekly has given us a first look at how Pennywise will look in this film, and it’s really something.
There are lots of interesting tidbits about the film in the article, and comments like the King quote heading this article. But the most interesting note comes from Skarsgard himself. He acknowledges Tim Curry‘s larger than life performance, and his need to do something different. In his own words, “I’ll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.”
It has a projected release date of September 8, 2017. This film will only adapt part of the book, so a sequel will be made if this film does well enough.
