The production story of the It film adaptation that New Line Cinema has been planning to do for the past few years is like following a soap opera, but at least we finally have a Pennywise. As reported by Variety, the chosen one is Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove).

This version of It has been in production hell for quite some time now. Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) was going to be the director. He had plans of making it a two-parter and cast Will Poulter to star as Pennywise. Sadly, this never happened because Fukunaga dropped out after clashing with New Line Cinema. They stated that he had issues with the budget but Fukunaga stated that it was another case of those dreaded creative differences.

Recently, Argentinian director Andrés Muschietti (Mama) was brought on board and the film now has an estimated release date of December 2017. Will Poulter ended up having to drop out because of other projects so they had to look for another Pennywise.

Personally speaking, while Tim Curry was a great Pennywise, the miniseries where he played the part is not (it’s cheesy and time hasn’t been kind to it at all) so I’m curious about what another actor can do with the role.

What do you think? Will Skarsgard do a decent job? Let us know in the comments!
