Many readers will be returning to school. many will have returned already. Some may be ready. Some less so. In a timely fashion, this week’s EwTube videos are a series of hacks and gags for the prepared and under-prepared alike. It’s a well-trod theme of course, but that means there is a lot to play with. If by the end of this column you’re not in a scholarly state of mind at least you can expect a couple of laughs. And if the laughs go wanting then I dare say you have bigger problems than forthcoming semester!
SORTING STATIONERY AND OTHER HACKS
Crazy Russian Hacker is a YouTuber with tips and tricks to stay on top when the school year starts. Here he offers a number of hacks to help you study with a combination of DIY tools and ingenuity, all punctuated with an encouraging “Boom!” upon completion. There are a few caveats. Younger reader/ viewers may be advised to seek adult supervision. Also, the trick involving used up pens and a cigarette lighter doesn’t work not felt tips, obviously.
Bro Tips from BuzzFeed
Bros Justin Tan and Zack Evans come up a spoof on the return to class trope. Some of it is common sense: don’t wear your best dress on day one. Still if there’s a uniform at your school, moot point. Dopey from start to stop, there is a fair chance you’ll get a laugh if not some serviceable, cogent advice. For me, it was a reminder to download ‘Heads Up’…
Hart To Heart
I am certain that someone else has made that joke, but I am glad I made it. Hannah Hart is a YouTuber from the US (MyHarto). I first became aware of MyHarto a few years ago. A friend introduced me to My Drunk Kitchen, regular content that involves cooking under the influence. Safety first. Here our Hart gives us some goofs alongside some genuinely good tips. Class Is In Session On HBO
Where would we be without John Oliver? He gave us the Salmon Cannon. Here he breaks down numerous classes and their merits with a satirical edge. English comes out on top. My personal biases not withstanding, darn right too. Incidentally, until watching this I’d no idea who actor Penn Badgley was. Whether you look forward to class or not, whether your in or out of education, be sure to catch the next season of Last Week Tonight September 13 on HBO.
