Ben Affleck Will Direct And Co-Write Solo Batman Movie
In a move that should shock nobody who saw Argo, Ben Affleck is taking the reigns on the latest incarnation of Batman for Warner Bros. Deadline has revealed the news that Affleck will direct and co-write the solo Bat-film that is set for release post-Batman v Superman, and he will be joined by veteran Bat-scribe Geoff Johns.
Johns, who is currently DC’s Chief Creative Officer, has penned some of Batman’s most note-worthy latter day appearances, including Earth One and Justice League, as well having worked intensely on popular DC TV adaptations The Flash, Smallville and Arrow. In other words, he knows what’s up with bringing Master Bruce to screen.
Both Affleck and Johns are reportedly completely in sync with how they want this new as-yet-untitled movie to go, with emphasis set to “reflect the Batman character” after the events of his other appearance in the DC movie universe. Reports are also suggesting that a draft of the script could be finished as early as the end of this Summer, so hopefully a release date will be confirmed soon enough in lieu of this news!
Ben Affleck will make his Bat-debut* in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year.
