A new Underworld film has been in the works for a couple of years now, and The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that series star Kate Beckinsale will reprise her role for the upcoming fifth instalment.
Beckinsale will once again star as Selene, the vampire heroine, in her ongoing battle against the werewolves. Underworld 5 is said to focus on a new generation of vampires and werewolves. In the previous film, Underworld: Awakening, Selene had a child with werewolf/ vampire hybrid Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), and it is thought the film will follow the child, named Eve, as she engages in the war.
Anna Foerster will make her directorial debut with the film, after having done cinematography work on films such as The Day After Tomorrow and Aeon Flux, while Cory Goodman has written the script.
Filming for Underworld 5, tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation, will begin in October in Prague.
