AsaButterfield_241013It’s down to the wire for Marvel once again as the filming of Captain America: Civil War has already begun without their Spider-Man being cast. Latino Review has just dropped the news that Asa Butterfield has entered the final negotiations for the role. Marvel are currently meeting with his reps to finalize a contract that is expected to see him play the web-slinger for 12 years across both Sony and Marvel productions.

Asa rose to fame as the lead in Ender’s Game, alongside Harrison Ford, and also starred in Hugo from Martin Scorsese. This new Spider-Man will be a teenage focused one, as opposed to the teenage-into-young-adulthood one of Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire‘s time as Peter Parker.

The as-yet-untitled Spider-Man film is due in 2017, and has no writer or director attached.
