Yup that headline is as bizarre as it reads! Beat’em up ClayFighter was first released for the Super Nintendo in 1993/1994 before being ported to the Sega Mega Drive and now it’s publishers have slated it to return next year!
The fighting game which was met with moderate success never really found it’s footing in the fighting game community, a love it or hate it vibe found some players raving about the humour and animation while it left others bored.
Interplay in a statement have said that some of our favourite characters will return in what’s already shaping up to be a 20+ roster including ad Mr. Frosty, Blue Suede Goo, Earthworm Jim, Hoppy, Boogerman and Tiny. The game mechanics will also get some work with the publisher stating that the game would be “introducing new mechanics to the series such as double jumping, air dashing, counters, and reversals!“.
The new ClayFighter is scheduled for 2016 on PC.
