The powerhouse comic-creating couple Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction have signed a deal with Universal TV and their own production company Milkfed Criminal Masterminds. This deal will allow them to create TV adaptations of some of their comic creations.
Of course, their Marvel stuff is probably totally out of bounds, which means Fraction’s Hawkeye and DeConnick’s Captain Marvel won’t be part of the deal, but instead we get their creator-owned books from Image, with Sex Criminals being the first adaptation in development. Other titles that could be up for consideration are Pretty Deadly, Bitch Planet, Ody-C or Satellite Sam, which all have Kelly Sue or Matt’s stamp on them.
We’re always excited to usher in fresh voices to the television space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Matt and Kelly Sue,” said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria on the deal. “A fantastic pair whose award-winning comics are as deeply realized as they are entertaining.”
Long-term plans for Milkfed Criminal Masterminds includes launching new comic IP from fresh creators as well as completely original TV content.
