Fans wait patiently for news of new series “Gotham” well it has been announced Tuesday that Warner Bros. Worldwide TV Distribution have given the upcoming Fox series exclusively to Netflix for Worldwide release for its first season.
An unusual move by Warner Bros who would usually go for a country by country deal approach rather than Netflix’s multi-territory release. Each season of the series will be available to Netflix users after the broadcast run.
Gotham premieres on September 22nd on Fox in the US, No exact date for release has been announced (other than it will be aired on Channel 5 in the UK) for this side of the pond but this deal with Netflix gives Gotham fans everywhere hope that they will in fact get to view the series. Following the origin of the caped crusader with a young and ambitious James Gordon as a rookie detective as he navigates the darkness and corruption of Gotham City.
“Gotham is the most anticipated new series of the fall season and we are thrilled to offer it to our members around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix.
