Deadline are reporting that Paramount Studios are more than happy with their domestic earnings of $65 million dollars, in fact they are so happy that they have confirmed the sequel and it’s release date June 3rd 2016.
Worldwide the film has taken in just under $100 million on it’s opening weekend, 25 million short of it’s budget and with some big releases hot on it’s heels, The Expendables 3, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the movie will have some big competition following it not to mention it’s head to head with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!
Despite all that the studio and Adam Goodman, President of Paramount’s Film Group spoke excitedly about their summer project and the stuff yet to come:
“Launching a new take on the Turtles into the feature film world was a daunting task because as fans of them ourselves, we felt a great responsibility to ensure audiences were going to experience everything they loved about theTurtles, while also getting to see them brought to life in a way they had never been seen before…The result exceeded our high expectations and the response to the film is beyond great, making it all the more fun to get started on the continuation of their story.“
Did you see the reboot? Are you happy about the confirmation of a sequel or is this just another stab at our childhood?
