neil-gaiman-american-godsWe’re truly being spoilt for television right now, with American Horror Story, Hannibal, True Detective amongst a very strong line-up of original and adaptative series’ that wish to swallow our time up completely. Joining these soon enough will be the American Gods TV series, based up on the book by Neil Gaiman. Being produced by Gaiman, Bryan Fuller of Pushing Daisies and Hannibal, and Michael Green of Kings and Heroes, there’s still an air of tentativeness amongst fans who want pure quality from the show. Thankfully, the producers seem to have the right idea, with Fuller stating in an interview with CraveOnline, “It’s basically the following the events of the books, but expanding those events, and expanding the point of view to go above and beyond Shadow and Wednesday. In that way, as with Game of Thrones, there are dozens of characters that you’re tracking through the events and that’s probably the biggest similarities between the worlds, in that there’s a wide variety of characters at play.”
Even more interesting is the fact that one of Gaiman’s other books Anansi Boys may also play a part, and they go so far as to say Neil ‘God dam well better’ script some episodes. The show is set to film next year with a screen date of 2016. Here’s hoping it’s worth the wait!
