Rat Queens Vol. 1 Reaches No. 1 In New York Times Bestseller List
In news that should surprise no-one whose actually read the dam thing, it was confirmed today that for this week, it is the no. 1 most sold comic on the New York Times bestseller list, outselling mainstays such as Persepolis and The Walking Dead. This is bound to be a nice surprise for the crew behind the book as they’re working hard at promoting the title at this years San Diego Comic Con as I write this.
Written by Kurtis J. Wiebe with art by Roc Upchurch, Rat Queens is a fantasy series with a difference as it follows four female adventurers as they go around questing and kicking ass. There’s Hannah, the rockabilly elven mage, Violet, the hipster dwarven warrior, Dee, the atheist human cleric and Betty, the hippy halfling thief. Thus far there are seven issues, with the first five having been re-released in the trade paperback form (pictured) that has taken the charts by storm.
