Acclaimed director Luc Besson, whose credits include the Taken and Transporter series’, has teamed up with the Black Widow herself Scarlet Johannson for sci-fi action film Lucy, and the first trailer has been revealed:
Set in a futuristic world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts and corrupted cops, Lucy (Scarlett Johansson), a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, 2069 AD, works as a drug mule for the mob. The drug she inadvertently takes goes into her system, changing her into a metahuman. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts.
Did I happen to mention that Luc Besson also made The Fifth Element? This looks awesome. I mean, we all know Scarlet can kick ass with the best of them on screen, and Besson has a great eye for both action and sci-fi, so yeah, this gets my seal of approval. With Don Jon, Under The Skin, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and now this, Scarlet Johansson has been doing very well of late, and she deserves every bit of screen time,
Lucy is released into theaters on 22nd August.
