Steve Wacker Teases New Spider-Man 2099 Series.
For those who braved the storm for new comics today, you might have spotted Editor Steve Wacker’s Spidey 2099 tease in this weeks Superior Spider-Man letter column.
With the editor finishing his time on the book before beginning as Marvel’s new animation vice-president he thanks fans for their support and letters during his time he also speaks on the value of letter columns in a digital age.
“While Twitter and message boards have taken over a lot of the back-and-forth in this day and age, to me there’s no replacing the thrill in finding and debating like-minded fans and discovering bits of tidbits and news* on a page like this. *For example: the Spidey 2099 series that Ellie is putting together for later in the year would be a great bit of surprising news! If it were true, that is.”
Rumours have been swirling about a possible Spider-Man 2099 series since the Spider-Man of 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) found himself stranded in the past (our present) during Dan Slott’s run on Superior Spider-Man earlier this year.
Spider-Man 2099 creator Peter David also addressed rumours earlier in the week on twitter saying
“Bleeding Cool is speculating I’m doing a SM2099 book in May. If you want that, Let Marvel know. Sounds great to me, but it’s not scheduled.”
With Marvel only saying “Wait and see” it’s almost certain Miggy’s getting his own book soon.
