Top Ten Creepiest Pokémon

They lurk in abandoned houses! They drift aimlessly down forgotten roads! They hide in shadows waiting and watching. They are lost souls trapped inside old heirlooms. Nope! These aren’t characters in a Stephen King novel, they aren’t monsters from a B-Movie or urban legends passed down from generation to generation. These are Pokémon, entries in a Pokédex that send shivers up your spine!

It’s tough to put these in order so I’m not adding numbers this time but I think it’s safe to say that the ten Pokémon listed below are the creepiest, darkest and most twisted Pokémon you’ll ever encounter on your travels across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinoh, Unova and Kalos! Read and capture these Pokémon at your own caution!

Gastly

It was one of the original trio of Ghost Pokémon, Gastly was one of the only answers to defeating Sabrina and her psychic Pokémon. Great, it was useful! Then you look at the PokéDex entry and you begin to see how terrifying this tiny ball of gas really is… it envelops its enemies then suffocates them!

Its thin body is made of gas. Despite lacking substance, it can envelop an opponent of any size and cause suffocation.

Drifloon

Look, it’s a cute balloon Pokémon! Who wouldn’t love a Pokémon that just floats along with a cute little tuft on it’s head that looks like a little cloud! Do not be fooled by it’s outward appearance! Drifloon is a floating nightmare! It is said that a child who holds on to a Drifloon for too long will vanish couple that with the latest data entry in Pokémon X/Y which states that Drifloon is made up of the essence of both Pokémon and Humans and you’ve got yourself one hellish child snatching demon!

It is whispered that any child who mistakes Drifloon for a balloon and holds on to it could wind up missing.

Drowzee

Inspired by an ancient supernatural being, this little creature might seem as harmless as an ant-eater (for the record I’ve no idea if ant-eaters are harmless…to people…obviously ants don’t like them!) but don’t be fooled by it’s sullen features. Drowzee gorge themselves on dreams, particularly the dreams of children as they have acquired a taste for innocent dreams, preferring them over adult ones. They’ve even noted to get sick from ingesting nightmares but that doesn’t stop these ravenous beasts from feasting on your subconscious when you are at your most vulnerable!

If your nose becomes itchy while you are sleeping, it’s a sure sign that a Drowzee is standing above your pillow and trying to eat your dream through your nostrils.

Banette

The smile from a Banette might be confusing; I mean it looks a little creepy, it’s meant to be unnerving but at the end of the day this is just a regular little Pokémon, what’s the worst that could happen? Well this Pokémon is created from negative energy, zoning in on abandoned dolls and plushes, it harbours nothing but resentment for it’s original owner AND it’s got a bit of a stalker’s complex. Banette are typically found in urban areas where it tries to find the child who abandoned it so it can exact it’s revenge and haunt the child… because that’s not creepy or insane!

Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body. This Pokémon was originally a pitiful plush doll that was thrown away.

Paras

Just a little insect Pokémon with some cute little mushrooms on it’s back! Nope! This is how the Zombie apocalypse begins folks and Paras is a terrifying warning! Those shrooms on it’s back control the bug, forcing the creature to burrow deep into the grow to sap the nutrients from trees. If the mushrooms on it’s back drain enough energy they grow bigger and eventually drain the nutrients from the Paras taking complete control and turning it into the Parasect.

The tochukaso growing on this Pokémon’s back orders it to extract juice from tree trunks.

Five down and five to go! We’re only halfway through this creepy ordeal! Click here for page 2!

Honedge

Swords are dangerous! Sword Pokémon with special abilities are even more dangerous! Sword Pokémon that come to life after a weapon is possessed by the spirit of a former living being is probably the most dangerous thing going! This Pokémon is not only a deadly ghost blade, it will literally feed off the life force of a person that dares take a hold of it! So if it came down to fighting for your life using a Honedge or being brutalised by stampeding Tauren… I’ll take death by trampling!

Apparently this Pokémon is born when a departed spirit inhabits a sword. It attaches itself to people and drinks their life force.

Gothitelle

Sometimes all the power in the Universe can be a curse! Gothitelle is an extremely powerful psychic, they develop the ability to map the stars from their earlier evolutionary stages. Coupling that ability with the intense relationships they tend to develop with their trainers the Gothitelle can see the future of their trainer, in fact they are able to pinpoint the exact moment their beloved partner dies. Yup, you’ve got yourself a walking death clock that mourns endlessly when it is in your presence! That’s like having an obituary tattooed on your forehead!

It can see the future from the movement of the stars. When it learns its Trainer’s life span, it cries in sadness.

Duskull

It might look like a cute little ghost… with one creepy eye… it is a cute little ghost that loves the sound of people crying! Now when I say people I of course mean children! This guy has a special knack for vigilantism; it prefers to target children deemed naughty and it will take them into the realm of spirits forever – whether true or not, the fact this creepy little ghoul also possesses the ability to pass through walls only lends to it’s creepiness!

If it finds bad children who won’t listen to their parents, it will spirit them away–or so it’s said.

Yamask

This pretty self explanatory – that is the spirit of a person who died! The thing it’s holding is a mask of it’s original human face! When it looks at the mask, it bursts in to tears! Are the people at GameFreak trying to traumatise children/young adults/me?

Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was human. Sometimes they look at it and cry.

Cubone

I like Cubone! I’m going to say that now because the rest of this isn’t so positive! This little guy gets a lot of attention and has dozens of tribute videos, fan-fics, art and more all over the internet! Why? Well Cubone is the ‘lonely’ Pokémon and many theorise that it’s lonely because it’s mother died and to remind itself of her, it wears her skull thus putting all other Pokémon off and increasing it’s loneliness – the poor little guy gets a lot of sympathy!

You know who else is really lonely, has issues with his mother and (shut up and don’t say me!) is driven to despair? NORMAN BATES! Cubone isn’t some helpless little creature… it’s wearing it’s own mothers skull! That means this little monster had to remove it from the dead body, clean it (most likely stripped the flesh away itself, did it eat? Who knows?) and then fasten it on itself like a helmet! What about that sounds endearing?!

It wears the skull of its dead mother on its head. When it becomes lonesome, it is said to cry loudly.
