Iain Banks: "…it looks like my latest novel, The Quarry, will be my last."
Iain Banks, the world renowned sci-fi/fiction writer behind notable works ‘Surface Detail’, ‘Matter’ and ‘Dead Air’ has revealed that his next published work, ‘The Quarry’ will be his last.
“The bottom line now, I’m afraid, is that as a late-stage gall bladder cancer patient, I’m expected to live for ‘several months’ and it’s extremely unlikely I’ll live beyond a year. So it looks like my latest novel, The Quarry, will be my last.“
Banks has been listed as one of the greatest British writers since 1945 and his work has been adapted for television and movies, with the revelation of the extent of his disease, Banks has requested his publishers bring forward the release of ‘The Quarry’ so he might have the opportunity to see it on shelves.
