Some very exciting news for Timesplitters fans, there is a possibility that the series may see the light of day again in the form of a HD collection or HD remake.
A Petition that was made some time ago calling for a Timesplitters HD collection has caught the eye of Crytek, the company that bought Timesplitters original developer Free Radical. A member of Crytek said in an interview…
“There’s a very hardcore market that is very verbal about [TimeSplitters], If they could get the petition together [with the 300,00 signatures], I would be very happy to put it in front of decision makers in the company, the key stakeholders, and say, ‘Look here. This is how it is. Let’s make it now.’”
Its still a long shot but the way I see it, its the only shot us Timesplitters fans have and even if the petition fails at least Crytek knows that the Timesplitters franchise still has some legs. So if you care about fun games I’d suggest signing this petition straight away. When I first signed it about a month ago it had maybe 1,500 signatures, now since the word got out from Crytek its gone up to nearly 20,000! Its still a long way to go but its a lot of progress in a day.
So readers, as a request from one gamer to another I ask you to sign this petition and spread it around to all your friends. I will hold a Timesplitters party with a monkey shaped cake if this ever gets released and you are all invited!
