Launched on the 25th of September, Mists of Pandaria is the fourth expansion pack from the hugely successful MMORPG, World of Warcraft. Following on from Cataclysm, MoP opens a new world, class and race for WoW players to get to grips with and it seems that fans both current, old and hell even newcomers are taking to this latest release like a Goblin takes to gold!
Since it’s launch the game has sold 2.7 million copies worldwide (and the expansion only launched in China two days ago so expect even bigger numbers shortly!) and the number of subscribers to the game has surpassed the 10 million mark.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment had this to say about the success of the expansion:
“With Mists of Pandaria, we set out to expand on the sense of fun and discovery that’s always been at the heart of World of Warcraft – in addition to adding a huge variety of new content and features to the game. It’s been gratifying to see the results of all of the work we put into this expansion and to hear all of the positive feedback from players so far.”
It would seem there is still some life in the World of Warcraft and as the development team are hard at work preparing for their first major content update, it seems that there is more to the Mists of Pandaria than Pandas who kick ass but only time will tell if this all holds up!
