Just when you think E3 couldn’t blow us away anymore, Square Enix up and step their game! We’ve almost forgotten about Beyond Two Souls and Watch Dogs, why you ask? Well SE have delivered something truly breathtaking at the Expo and the gaming world is buzzing because of a video displayed only a few hours ago!

Square Enix have never been ones to shy away from visuals, with fantastic cutscenes and animation a favourite by the developers in all their games but the video you can watch right here on the Arcade is something new and something we are very excited about!

Agni’s Philosophy is a short video clip that contains the future of the Final Fantasy series – a group of wizards prepare to summon a creature from another world when they are attacked and killed by terrorists, only one, Agni, survives and escapes with a magic crystal. Fleeing from her armed captors and mutated jackals, Agni races to complete the spell and protect herself and her people from the attackers.

It’s bizarre but what about Final Fantasy has ever been normal? The visuals are absolutely breath taking and are the work of Luminous Studios hired by Square Enix to create a new engine that could handle their new ideas but it doesn’t end there. This new engine will be implemented in all future titles and is adaptable to any platform from next gen consoles to web applications and even phones.

  1. Wow! That has to be Next Gen Console stuff it’s so pretty.

I think that was the most awesome way to show a healing potions effects!

  2. It may be able to implement into any games console but it will be a cut back weaker version. I wont look this good or be able to do anything near this. An engine is all well and good but it is limited by what it runs on. and the consoles will not be able to do this.

And if anybody wants to try and argue this I will give you an example. The likes of Disney/Pixar and dream works have server banks with high powered CPU/GPU server blades running at much higher speeds than the best gaming PC’sand then have hundreds link in massive parallel stacks. These are then run for over a yeah rendering the movies they make. Shrek too 5 years to complete.

If they could somehow get there hands on a single console that would be capable of doing to work of hundreds of high end server blades The entire server business would collapse. to sum up Sony 1. don’t have the technology and 2. Would not be able to put it in such a small package.

This was probably made on a similar render farm to that of film studios. it means nothing at the end of the for the next generation of consoles.
