For a while now the plot of Iron Man 3 has been rumoured to be based the Iron Man: Extremis storyline by Warren Ellis and Adi Granov (Visual designer on the movies)
Apparently people have been bugging Mr. Ellis about it, and last night be tweeted some confirmations to shut us up.
Warren Ellis is a British author of comics, novel and television, known for his sarcastic personality and online commentaries on a wide range of subjects. Some of his notable work include The Authority, Transmetpolitan, Stormwatch and Iron Man: Extremis, he has also dabbled in other media such as writing the amazing GI Joe Resolute.
Iron Man Extremis is a 6 issue story line by Warren Ellis and Adi Granov, published in 2006. It was a relaunch and redefinition of the character after the previous years Avengers Disassembled Event. It updated Iron Man’s origin story for a more modern time, shows what Stark is willing to go through to be able to push the Iron Man armour past it’s limits. Extremis is an extremely powerful nanotechnology process which can essentially redesign your body from the DNA up, Using this incredibly risky process Tony Stark and the Armour literally become one. Iron Man is no longer a suit he has to climb into, but an extension of his body that he can control like any other limb.
Whether Extremis will be used in part or whole in the new movie, you know it is going to be good, and while you are waiting you should probably go track down a copy of Extremis and read it, you will thank me later.
