The Boy And The Beast Trailer Released
The upcoming film The Boy and the Beast is an all-round anime film, featuring all the aspects of anime we all adore. A young boy comes across a beast of a bear and their bond begins.
Ok so the plot is not as simple as that but the film centres on Kyuta, a young boy living in Shibuya present-day Tokyo. He in turns discovers and creates a friendship with a forlorn beast Kumatetsu as he finds himself in a world not his own. He becomes the beast’s disciple as he teaches him martial arts.
You know this is a film you need to see after watching the trailer but just in case here is some back up for it, it was written and directed by Mamoru Hosoda, the man behind Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Wolf Children (all need to be seen if you have not), and this will be his first film in three years. While speaking at a Tokyo press event he described the film as:
“The movie is a training story about a boy who was separated from his parents and becomes a disciple of a bakemono [supernatural creature]. It’s going to be a traditional yet novel story.”
There is no release date for The Boy and the Beast on this side of the world but it will debut in Japanese theaters on the 11th of July.
