Kodi Smit-McPhee Talks about playing Nightcrawler
In an interview with SuperHero Hype, actor Kodi Smit-McPhee, best know for his role in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, opens up about playing teleporting mutant, Nightcrawler, in upcoming movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.
On how got the part, Kodi said that it began with just meeting director Bryan Singer, “…we hit it off and spoke a lot about our own interests in quantum physics and the spiritual world, so we hit it off, and then I just did an audition and they were saying, ‘Bryan wanted you the whole time so let’s get the auditions done with.’ I can’t wait to connect up with him on set. It will be such a different environment.”
He also spoke about taking on a character many already associate with actor, Alan Cummings, who played Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler in X-Men 2, explained that it’s not directly influencing him but that he’s aware of fans expectations, “…there are a lot of people expecting a lot of things, I did a huge amount of research on anyone who has portrayed it and even in the comics and the cartoons and live action. I just followed Nightcrawler’s story. I feel very honored and grateful to be expressing that now. I can’t wait.”
Now we all know who Nightcrawler is and more importantly we know who his mother is – fingers crossed we’ll actually get to see mother and son share a family moment – I really want to see this scene played out:
X-Men Apocalypse is scheduled for May 27th 2016.
