Maisie Williams Won’t Return To Doctor Who

Maisie Williams, who played Ashildr in the most recent season of Doctor Who, has confirmed that she will not be returning for the next season of the show.

In a recent interview with BANG Showbiz, the actress definitively stated, “No, I’m not going to return, I have a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead.”

Season 10, which will also mark the departure of showrunner Stephen Moffat, seems to be very open ended right now. This news of Williams’ departure has squashed any speculation of her character’s storyline being carried on, at least for the time being.

Fans of the actress won’t have to wait long to see her again, regardless of her Who departure as she added that she has “a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead.” Among these projects is season six of Game Of Thrones, which returns on April 24. Doing the two shows consecutively would’ve been a real drain on her time, and no doubt she has many exciting offers in the pipeline. We look forward to what Williams gets up to outside of Westeros in the near future!

  1. Well it didn’t seem like they could do much more with the character. She’ll be travelling with Clara forever (or at least until she get bored). Even so, I don’t think she’ll meet the Doctor again. How she supposed to find him. I think she had a fitting end anyway
