Hikaru Utada To Release First Album In Six Years
No, you did not misread that title! Hikaru Utada is set to release a brand new album next spring according to Japanese newspaper, Sports Hochi. According to their sources, Utada will return to the music and entertainment industry following her six year hiatus with at least two of the tracks from the new album being songs for a major live action series and a news programme.
This will be Utada’s first major entertainment contribution in six years bar some small contributions like the song Sakura Nagashi which was the ending theme for the 2012 Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. Hikaru Utada is best known for her musical and vocal contributions to anime while also performing the opening themes for the PS2 game series Kingdom Hearts.
