Retro fiends and modern day players alike, rejoice – Shovel Knight is getting a physical edition, on shelves, this October. Yacht Club Games made the announcement via a blog on their website:
“The physical version of Shovel Knight contains everything we’ve released so far. First, there is the original Shovel Knight campaign with all the content you know and love! Also included is Shovel Knight’s first content update: Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows. Finally, there’s a full-featured Challenge mode with more than 50 crazy challenge levels to explore!”
Of course, like the digital version, every boxed version will also receive FREE future updates as they become available:
So, the physical edition will come with the base game and the Plague of Shadows DLC that allows players to become Plague Knight, and will include access to all further updates and DLC for free.
And Yacht Club have committed to a tangible copy of the knight who digs as well with a FULL proper instruction manual to be included (perhaps a sign of the times that that needs to be a bonus?), so when Shovel Knight hits shelves it will be like buying the games of old!
Shovel Knight, the boxed version, will release on October 13th in North America and October 16th in Europe on Wii U, 3DS, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
