Good news, girls and boys! Everyones favourite patriot, Captain America will indeed be returning in the next instalment of The Avengers saga, Infinity War Part 1 and 2. In a recent interview with Collider, Chris Evans confirmed that not only does his current contract include the two films, but he’d also be open to renewing his contract to possibly include further films. Evans is quoted as saying, “Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me. I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such—I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor.”
It’s no secret that the cast of all the Marvel movies tend to have a blast behind the scenes, with recent displays including the entire cast of S.H.I.E.L.D. pitting themselves against the entire cast of Agent Carter in a dubsmash war, and travelling across the entire country to drag Chris Evans in on the fun. However, despite the behind the scenes merriment, rumours still continue to circulate as to whether or not Civil War would be the Cap’s last solo movie. Thankfully, Evans was able to reassure us, even going so far as to talk about his reluctance to initially take the role, saying that, “It’s so mind-boggling that I was so tentative in the beginning to jump onboard. What an asshole I would be if I hadn’t done this. I mean can you imagine? Kicking myself—I’d never forgive myself!”
So, panic averted! We can all go back to worrying about which side our closest friends are on in Civil War rather than worrying about the future of our most beloved franchise.
Feel free to spread some Cap love down in the comments below and let us know what you think about Evans returning to the role after Infinity War.
