Last year’s ‘The Conjuring’ was a personal highlight; the old school atmosphere was refreshing to see on the big screen, especially considering mainstream horror is so densely populated with stereotype and jump scare filled bore-fests. One of the spookier aspects of ‘The Conjuring’ was a subplot involving a possessed doll named Annabelle. While not re-writing the book on horror, possessed dolls are an easy way to really chill audiences, and it worked. Thankfully, James Wan seen that and has decided to provide a spin-off for Annabelle before ‘The Conjuring 2’ and ‘Insidious 3’. Because who needs holidays, eh? Check out the first trailer:
This is definitely a Wan picture alright, ‘Dead Silence’ comes to mind straight away the whole way through the trailer. Hardly an insult, however, as ‘Dead Silence’ is a surprising gem of a film made before James achieved super-stardom.
‘Annabelle’ is due in theaters October 3rd.
