While JJ Abrams continues to work away on Star Wars Episode VII, the comeback film of the franchise, Deadline has just revealed that Looper writer/director Rian Johnson will take on the mantle for the remaining films in the trilogy. This continues the trend of Disney and Lucasfilm granting young directors the keys to the kingdom with Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank having been confirmed to spearhead the spin-offs
Johnson is most famous for Looper, but also directed indie favorite Brick and several episodes of Breaking Bad, perhaps most notably Fly and Ozymandias.
Star Wars Episode VII is due in theaters December 18th 2015.
