Welcome to Dead Island

It was over three years ago since we last saw anything of Dead Island, back when it was heading for a 2008 release on the Xbox360 and PC. Now it’s back with one of the saddest and most haunting trailers we’ve seen in a while. Generally death and children are a combination most frequently avoided in video-games for obvious reasons, though this trailer is set around it.

The game itself looks to be set on a holiday island result and Techland are taking a realistic approach; not only will children be no more safe from the hordes of the undead as adults but this is going to be a first person game without guns. You’ll have to make do with whatever you can get your hands on. It looks like if there ever is an undead threat this game would be the most likely to be helpful to look back on.

DS-i = Chaos-i

Earlier this month a message appeared on a Japanese bulletin board in regards to a planned attack. It was rather specific, giving a time, date and even the manner in which the attack would take place.

“On February 11, at 9pm sharp, there will be random slashing at Shinjuku Station’s highway bus entrance,” the message read. “You might want to sit this round out if you don’t want to die.”

It was also written that three individuals would carry out this attack; one in a car and the other two brandishing knives. Fearing a repeat of the Akihabara Massacre the Tokyo Metropolitan Police jumped into action immediately, assembling 80 officers while over 500 people from online looked on to see what would happen. The police began tracking the IP address of the message to find that it was not just any IP address but one specific to a handheld Nintendo DSi console.

Eleven hours before the alleged attack was supposed to take place Police tracked the IP to a DSi in the hands of a 15 year old student from Yokohama  in an electronics store in Kawasaki City. The boy was arrested and claimed;

“I acted alone. I just wanted to see how much chaos it would cause.”

A bus pass to Osaka in his possession suggested this may not have been the case and that it was possible that after the attack he had intended to escape to Western Japan.

Left at the Altar

Seeing as it’s been a while since we last brought you any news that had something to do with geeks proposing or getting married we scoured the internet in search of some recent occurrences, and this is what we found. Ingle and Aimee opted for a less than conventional theme for their wedding photoshoot, opting for a blood and mud stained shoot inspired by Left 4 Dead as opposed to sun, sky and beautiful scenery. We prefer their idea anyway as we bring you their zombie apocalypse wedding photoshoot. Here’s hoping that their wedding itself was as epic as the photographs turned out to be!

Pew Pew Bang Bang

There are all kinds of weird and wonderful games coming to the Xbox Live Indie Games channel, PewPewPewPewPewPewPewPewPew is one of them. The game doesn’t use controllers nor does it require the use of your body instead via Kinect. You simply need to play with a friend and use your voice. The co-op title is controlled using an Xbox360 vocal input device, be it an Xbox360 headset or Lips mic, where one player must control the jetpack and another must control the guns by making noises. Noises like Pew repeatedly. So if you and a friend are up for making fools of yourselves and possibly getting a sore throat this is definitely the game for you!
