Kpop Ireland has managed to snag an interview with one of our favourite bands, B.I.G! The letters stand for ‘Boys in Groove’, and they have five members; J-Hoon, Minpyo, Gunmin, Benji and Heedo. They made their debut in July 2014 with their fantastic track ‘Hello’.

Thanks again to the wonderful folks over at Japako Music!

Due to some unforeseen issues, they weren’t able to send us a video, but they took time out of their schedules to email us the answers to our questions!

B.I.G: Dia duit! Hello, this is B.I.G!

KPI: Do you know anything about Ireland? Would you like to visit here someday?

Benji: I like the Irish Guinness.

Minpyo: Windmills come to mind.  When I watch movies, I see the scenery of Ireland every now and then, the nature there is beautiful, I’d like to visit Ireland with the other members.

KPI: Your song ‘Hello’ talks about loving Korea; is there another country you would love to visit?

J-Hoon & Gunmin: America! Benji was born in America and we’ve heard a lot about it. I’d love to visit there.

Benji & Heedo: France! We’d like to try escargot and see the Eiffel Tower.

KPI: If you could direct your own music video, what concept would each of you like?

Gunmin: I’d like to do a music video with one take. For example, the music video of Ringa Linga by Taeyang

Minpyo: I’d like to make a new type of music video by using 3D tech.

KPI: What artists do you listen a lot to?

B.I.G: For Korean artists, we love listening to hip-hop artists such as Big Bang, Zion-T and Crush. For foreign artists, we love listening to Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars.

KPI: What song by another K-pop artist do you wish was your song?

Benji: There is a song called ‘Mommae’ by Jay Park . The lyrics are really fun and the instrumental mood is really enjoyable and nice.

Heedo & Gunmin: B2ST‘s ‘Good Luck‘ because their performance is cool. We’d like to express it with B.I.G’s features. We would also like to show you an enjoyable song like this too!

Minpyo: Lies’ by BigBang. It’s not limited to any age and it’s a beloved song by Korean people. We also would like to try some music in that genre.

KPI: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

J-Hoon: I’d like to be a singer who does freestyle dancing, the best among Korean idols.

Gunmin & Minpyo: We’d like to be skilful artists touring in Europe.

Benji: I’d like to be a musician who is internationally recognised for composing.

KPI: Are there any artists you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Minpyo: Korean female rock singer Maya. I’d like to compose a song cheering people up by adding rap to Maya‘s song.

J-Hoon: Jang WooHyuk. He’s excellent at street dance called poppin’. I’d like to put on a good show by doing a performance with him.

Benji: The Weekend. He has a really unique style, so I feel if I composed a song with him, it would be one of a kind.

KPI: What inspired you guys to become singers?

J-Hoon: I liked dancing and singing so much, and I thought the only thing I could do was to become a singer. That’s why I’ve chosen this way. There have been so many hardships so far. Once I just wanted to give up, but I tried hard and overcame it, and now I’m with B.I.G members.

Gunmin: I sang at my middle school’s festival and when I heard applause from the audience, I was so impressed that I wanted to be a singer.

Minpyo: I used to learn to dance with my friends. I was overwhelmed by the attraction so I decided to become a singer.

Benji: I originally specialised in classical music and violin, but I liked singing and dancing so much I was contemplating doing it. My parents objected to it. But I thought I’d regret it if I didn’t do it, so I decided to come to Korea to achieve my dream.

Heedo: I liked rap and dancing so much. When I watched a music show, I felt like I wanted to be on a stage singing. That’s why I chose to become a singer.
