In 2000 Christopher Nolan made his name by directing the iconic psychological thriller Memento. The film gained a cult following with it’s non linear story telling and intense lead performance by Guy Pearse. Now AMBI Pictures which acquired the rights to this and several other films last week now has plans on remaking it.

Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi, the owners of AMBI Pictures bought the entire Exclusive Media Group film library after launching a successful $200 million film fund. Among the films included in the library are Cruel Intentions, Donnie DarkoRush and Sliding Doors.

Memento is a masterpiece,” said Bacardi. “[It] leaves audiences guessing not just throughout the film, but long after as well, which is a testament to its daring approach. We intend to stay true to Christopher Nolan’s vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original. It’s a big responsibility to deliver something that lives up to the mastery of the original, but we are extremely excited and motivated to bring this puzzle back to life and back into the minds of moviegoers.

No date on when the film will be released or when production will begin but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop!
