Following my very recent interview with Fake Nerd Guys, I have been thinking non stop about the Sailor Moon outfits, good guys and bad guys so I thought why not make a wearable look out of my favourite ones. It was so difficult narrowing it down to two but I will be making all of them in the future so keep your eyes peeled.
My two favourite Sailor Scouts are Neptune and Uranus but I thought I’d start off with Usagi and Tuxedo Mask. I went for a super casual feel to their outfits.

Sailor Moon: Usagi Tsukino

This colour combination is not for the faint of heart but can be easily pulled off with the right attitude. It would definitely grab attention and is easily switchable from a casual day look to a meeting friends after work look.

I chose to go for blue jeans instead of  a skirt because that is what most people would expect and it would have been too close to the costume for day-to-day wear. The white tank top is a wardrobe staple in my eyes, it goes with jeans, shorts, cute skirts, maxi skirts and pyjama bottoms but the fact that it was seamless added a bit more refinement to the look and it would feel similar to the leotards on the fukus worn by the Sailor Senshi.
Red shoes were a no-brainer for this one. I stayed away from red boots because of the length of the jeans. I chose shiny finishes because who doesn’t like a polished looking red high heel or a cute pair of flats.
As for the white bag it was the only way I could think of incorporating the white elbow length gloves and the bag should be big enough to fit a pair for shoes for those impromptu night out *cough* heels *cough*.
Since Usagi’s hair is a big part of her signature look I wanted to have yellow on the upper torso and when I spotted this adorable bolero I knew I had to use it. Last but not least I found a moon necklace to tie it all together, it is Sailor Moon after all.

Tuxedo Mask: Mamoru Chiba

The dude wears a lot of black and I mean a lot but I tried to balance it out with a crisp white shirt and white bow tie. I just had to have a bow tie for this look, I thought about a tie but the bow won out.

I’ve worn a similar outfit in the past myself. It looks smart but is extremely comfortable and flexible in terms of events. I love lining that is a different colour to the rest of the piece because it can easily become its own statement piece for outfits like these. So the sweater doubles as the red from the cloak lining and Tuxedo’s red rose. I don’t know about you but a solid coloured sweater can be so versatile and in this case it just helps pull the outfit together but also stops it from being too ‘classy’, we are inspired by Tuxedo Mask, we’re not cosplaying him!
The tuxedo parts of the outfit are in nearly everybody’s wardrobe, a black jacket/blazer, solid black jeans (with no fading, that’s critical) and some shiny black shoes. A good pair of black shoes will last a good few years and many occasions. If you are one of those people who hates shoe shopping, invest in black shoes and you will be fine, for a while at least.
Overall I feel like the outfit is something the man himself might wear.
