Wii Ware

Wii have always been fans of Nintendo (see what we did there…clever ain’t Wii) here at the @rcade and rather than review one game every so often we (the joke gets old fast) bring you three reviews of what we consider some of the better if not best and most recent Wii Ware downloads you can get straight to your console, so if you are looking for something new to play but haven’t the cash to splurge on a brand new release, these are the downloads you will want to get your hands on:

Zombie Panic in Wonderland

Zombie Panic in Wonderland title screen

When a world is invaded by an army of the undead, a young hero must lock and load and take up arms against the hordes of zombies that threaten his world and his friends. To save the world he must tackle the zombie forces head on, solve the mystery of the ‘scented dwarves’ (yes…that’s right scented dwarves) and destroy the source of the evil zombies once and for all in the mysterious castle in the furthest reaches of Wonderland.

As the player you will the option of playing either single player mode or teaming up for a friend and have the option of three playable characters as the saviour of the Wonderland world. The controls are pretty simple, you control the movements of your character with the nunchuk and aim and shoot with Wii-mote.

Each level is divided into three stages and at the end of the third stage the players will have to take on a boss. The environments in each level are completely destructible, allowing you the option to destroy everything in your path. If you are looking for something to test you strategically and broaden your mind, forget about it, Zombie Panic in Wonderland is a shameless action shooter…and there is nothing wrong with that!

Zombie Panic in Wonderland is available now for download at only 1000 Wii Points

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations

Phoenix Wright title

The third game in the Phoenix Wright series, everyone’s favourite attorney returns in what was originally a DS release but is exported to the Wii. If you’ve never played the series before, you have missed out on some careful legal proceedings, mind boggling mysteries and intense courtroom dramatics. Trials and Tribulations plays very much the same way as the rest of the series, there are two modes of gameplay, the first plays out a pretext to each case and will then follow on with Phoenix investigating crime scenes and gathering evidence and testimonials from witnesses which you then present in the second mode – the courtroom. In court you must present evidence you gathered to back up your defendant and refute claims made by the prosecution, any incorrect or libel statements will lead to loss of health and running out completely will cause you to lose the case entirely.

The game is simple in play but don’t be fooled, the procedures of the courtroom are not to be taken lightly.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations is available now for 1000 Wii Points.

BIT.TRIP RUNNER

Wii Ware

Take on the role of Commander Video as you duck dive jump leap and scale various levels based the rhythms of a song track. Bit Trip Runner is the fourth in the Bit Trip series, following Beat, Core and Void. Runner has over fifty levels to play and yeah this game sounds a little odd but it is by no means an easy feat to complete.

Gameplay wise, you control Commander Video, the music starts playing and all of a sudden obstacles of various shapes and sizes start to pop up and will force you to think quickly and react with cat like reflexes while bopping your feet to the catchy tunes. If you are not sure then check out the trailer before to get, an 80’s style blast of some of the quirkiest gameplay we’ve ever gotten our disco dance house loving hands on.

Bit Trip Runner is available for download now and costs 800 Wii Points.
