Bad news for fans of unnatural disaster movie series Sharknado! The third movie (yeah they’ve been successful enough to spawn a trilogy) is currently under production but now a strike by production crew and staff has brought the filming to a halt.
A vote was carried out by members of the production crew and the majority voted to walk off the set until an IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) contract was put in place. This contract would guarantee not only fair wages and working hours but would also entitle the workers to health and pension benefits which appear to be the crux of this strike.

Producers for the film have not made a statement but Sharknado 3 is scheduled to premier this summer on SyFy so here’s hoping they get this sorted out as soon as possible both for the employees and my own selfish desire to watch CGI sharks spin viciously in a tornado once more…
