It’s on like Donke…that’ll be $100..y Kong!
The phrase that empowers every gamer with adrenalin and the extra burst of fury to complete the last level, defeat a boss or just go AWOL on a FPS multiplayer is soon to be copyrighted if Nintendo are to get their way!
Well it’s not as dumb as a certain Hilton trying to copyright ‘That’s hot’! Girl has got more money than brains!
The phrase which was actually coined by Ice Cube (aren’t rap names hilarious) way back in 1992 was featured in ‘Now I Gotta Wet’Cha’ from his album ‘The Predator’.
So if Nintendo still plans on continuing with their attempts to copyright the phrase, as it does feature one of their main characters from the Nintendo franchise, will they have to give artistic credit to Ice Cube?
Don’t worry though as Star Trek legend and evil nerd Will Wheaton has decided if Nintendo copyright the phrase he’ll copyright ‘Are you fucking serious Nintendo?’ … now that’s something the @rcade wants on a t-shirt! Maybe Santa will bring it…
A week of free Catacylsm?
Still a WoW virgin? Have you been too shy or even intimidated to pick up that Dwarven axe or Elvish magic? Or were you put off by the price tag?
Well for those of us who popped our Azeroth cherries a long while ago and then refused to return their calls the next day (this is an analogy for playing World of Warcraft and not renewing our subscriptions!). Well good news for all those of you who let their subscription to WoW lapse, in honour/to make extra cash, Blizzard are now giving lapsed subscribers a week’s worth of free gameplay – that’s seven days to explore the forests of Teldrassil, the frosty mountains of Winterspring or the roaming fields of sand in The Barrens.
The catch?
Well the offer ends the 1st of December and Cataclysm isn’t available till the 7th! So if you manage not to get hooked into the game, well score some free time for you but if not… well it was nice knowing you!
Residence Evil
Any gamer worth their salt will be able to tell you the name of the director of one of the most terrifying and enjoyable gaming franchises ever to shuffle, ooze and horde it’s way into the world of gaming! We are talking about the Resident Evil series and the man behind it all, is director Shinji Mikami.
In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Mikami spoke of his childhood, one which sounds a lot more horrifying than anything he could add to a video game. The director survived years of torment and abuse at the hands of father who he said would beat him ‘pretty much daily’. Mikami recalled one night where his father dragged him out of his bed in the middle of the night and drove behind the child as he ran barefoot for 6km until he reached the beach. Then his father drove off and left him walk the rest of the way home… why you might ask? Because the kid didn’t do his homework!
Well Mikami, not only are you one of the best video game directors, you’re also one hell of a survivor!
Now for something a little bit lighter… it’s the human interest piece!
