We’re pretty sure there’s a collective sigh of relief from hardcore King and horror fans, as news is circulating that plans for a remake of It are on hold. The news comes as director Cary Fukunaga has walked from the project with artistic differences and budget issues cited as the reason for his departure.
The project was scheduled to begin production next month and is now in limbo. Horror novelist and creator of It, Stephen King has tweeted about the hiatus:
The remake of IT may be dead–or undead–but we’ll always have Tim Curry. He’s still floating down in the sewers of Derry.
