The Path to Enlightenment
Have you ever wondered if it would be possible to level your character to level 85 in World of Warcraft without ever killing an enemy? In a game that’s largely based around such a thing that’s exactly what one player did, taking advantage of a loophole of sorts; levelling his professions. After 5 months of gathering herbs, mining and exploring Azeroth character Everbloom is now level 85 without ever having killed anything in Azeroth.
‘If you like to explore, and enjoy a challenge I really REALLY recommend this, I have been playing since day 1 on other characters and I even have an original Loremaster (you know, back when it was hard) and I saw so MANY new things with Everbloom that it really made it worthwhile for me to continue on with this character, and each level was a major achievement!’

Combat – Pandora’s Tower
Earlier this year we got a glimpse of the mysterious ‘Pandora’s Tower’ for the Wii, getting little more than classical piano music and upper back tattoos. At long last we get our first real look at the game in this debut trailer; from what we can see it’s a high-speed, side-scrolling action game with some pretty intense combat:
The game is set for release on May 26th in Japan. When or if the rest of the world will get a chance to play the game has yet to be announced.
Bargain bin already?
If you don’t already own a PSP now might be a good time to invest in one, as Sony has decided to cut the European price of the handheld console by 24%. The recommended retail price of a PSP is now €129.99 , following the price of the handheld being cut to $129.99 in the U.S. back in February. The previous suggested retail price was €169.99.
“The price cut is aimed at increasing adoption of the player in Europe,” said Satoshi Fukuoka, a Tokyo-based spokesman at Sony’s video-games unit.
Similarly the Nintendo Wii is set to be dropping to as little as $150 per console in the U.S. next month, making it $100 cheaper than the Nintendo 3DS. Will a similar price cut follow in Europe? Those of you who do not already own a Wii and have been contemplating doing so should either remain hopeful or get on over to America. Either way these price drops are almost guaranteed to ensure an increase in sales for both consoles across the globe.
RIP – Jerry Lawson
Jerry Lawson, the engineer who led the Fairchild Channel F development team passed away this weekend just passed at the age of 70; the man responsible for the creation of the video-game cartridge. The Fairchild Channel F was the first cartridge based console when it was released in 1976. Lawson was only recently honoured by the Independent Game Developers Association for his pioneering work.
“The whole reason I did games was because people said, ‘You can’t do it,’ “ Lawson told the Mercury News in an interview only earlier this year. “I’m one of the guys, if you tell me I can’t do something, I’ll turn around and do it.”
Till ‘faint’ do us part
Because it’s been a while since we presented you with such a story, here’s the latest in the string of nerdy marriage proposals for you. We’ve seen proposals through hacked versions of Earthbound and even one done with custom-made muppet puppets, but this one is likely to appeal to an even wider audience; the many Pokémon fans among us.
The Pokéball used is no more than a typical toy with the rings hidden inside, and the message printed in the font used in the Pokémon games. And of course, why have it ask ‘Will you marry me?’ when you can remain in theme and have the enclosed note say ‘I choose you!’ instead. Judging by the pictures we can only assume it was super effective!
We’d totally walk down the wedding aisle to this theme!
