Creepy Christmas Movie ‘Krampus’ Trailer Released
We’re not halfway through September and yet the trailers for Christmas movies have already begun. However, Krampus is not, at least at first glance, feel-good holiday fodder…
Taking its cue from German folk lore, the movie centres around a family get together for the season festivities. However, all is not well. The family is visited not by St Nick but his counterpart: a demon set to punish children in their dreams. It is easy to draw comparisons with Freddie Krueger, a character also based on a similar archetype that can be traced back to The Sandman (whose most famous represation can be found in the short story of the same name by E.T.A. Hoffman).
Injecting Hoffman into the holidays is an intriguing proposition. Still, we’ll have to wait until December before giving a verdict.
