Daredevil’s Punisher Will Be Closest To Comic Persona
Former showrunner for the acclaimed Netflix series Daredevil, Stephen DeKnight, has spoken about the introduction of fan favourite Punisher in the second series.
According to DeKnight, this representation will not be like the character’s previous stints on the big screen and will in fact be the closest thing to the comic book persona of Frank Castle. In an interview with SlashFilm, DeKnight explained:
“The thing about The Punisher, and I think there are great things about each of those versions, but none of them was completely the Marvel version… And none of those movies were under the Marvel Studios banner until they recently got The Punisher back. So this is really the first time that we’re seeing the Marvel Studios from the Iron Man days, when they can control their own product, actually do this character.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of take they’ll go with ultimately. Daredevil wasn’t short on violence or action, but how the Punisher is going to fit in with all that… only time will tell!
Marvel’s Daredevil is scheduled to return to Netflix early 2016.
