If ever there was a match made in hell it’s Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in a film about the zombie apocalypse. Maggie is that film, except it’s a different kind of apocalypse. Citing the film as his most “human role” on his Facebook page, Arnold stars as the grieving father of a zombified daughter, the titular Maggie, played by Abigail Breslin, as he tries to protect her and search for a way to cure and save her.
The film bears a resemblance to recent zombie indie-hit The Battery, as it takes a more earthly look at the living dead. Instead of big guns and explosions, Maggie seems to focus solely on the immediate effects a zombie epidemic would have on a small community – though Arnold does wield a shotgun quite readily in the trailer.
The official synopsis reads: “As a virulent zombie epidemic spreads terror across the globe, a father (Arnold Schwarzenegger) cares for his infected daughter while struggling to prepare her for the inevitable.”
Maggie‘s release date is listed as coming soon.
