The latest animated feature film from Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon, Wolfwalkers, is now available in Irish cinemas. The film is co-produced by Melusine Productions and is an Apple TV original film. It is distributed by WildCard Distribution in Irish & UK cinemas.

Wolfwalkers follows the story of a young English girl named Robyn Goodfellowe. Now living in 17th century Ireland, Robyn strives to be a hunter, just like her father Bill, who has been ordered to find and kill the last pack of wolves that live nearby.

Venturing out into the neighbouring forest, against her father’s wishes, Robyn comes across the wolves and befriends a mysterious Wolfwalker named Mebh MacTíre. Wolfwalkers are a magical, shape-shifting people, who can control and communicate with wolves. This meeting leads the pair on an adventure to save Mebh’s mother and save the pack from Bill and the English soldiers.

The Apple Original film is directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart and written by Will Collins (Song of the Sea). This is the fourth feature film from the Oscar-nominated Irish studio, in which The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner have all been nominated for Best Animated Feature. Variety has tipped Wolfwalkers to win the Best Animated Film Oscar next year.

Wolwalkers is now showing in cinemas from December 4th in Ireland and will come to Apple TV+ on December 11th. Check you local listings for times.
