Whether you’re a console or PC player, there is plenty of horror titles available or spooky themed games ready to jump into this Halloween season. Here are just a few to check out.

Alien: Isolation

In space no one can hear you scream, but this first-person horror title, sees you survive the constant pursuit of the iconic Xenomorph alien. Traverse a huge space station, while avoiding the deadly creature. Fans of the original film, will love the aesthetic and atmosphere.

Alien: Isolation is free on Xbox Game Pass and can be purchased for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.

Days Gone

Looking for a post-apocalyptic, open world title? Days Gone has you traverse the rugged landscape of Oregon by your trusty motorcycle, as you encounter hoards of infected, called freakers. Use weapons found across the landscape, from firearms, melee weapons and makeshift tools, in order to survive the onslaught of the devastating hoards.

Days Gone is available for free on PS Now. You can also purchase it on PS4. Finally, it will be part of the PS5 PS Plus Collection, available from November 12th.

Friday The 13th: The Game

This asymmetrical multiplayer title, sees you take the role of a camp councilor, trying to survive and escape the map or play as the masked killer, Jason Voorhees, hunting down the councilors.

As the councilors, you will complete tasks, in order to escape. These include calling the local police, rebuilding a car to drive away or lay traps to slow down Jason. As Jason, you have to catch and kill, while using weapons and supernatural powers to pursue your pray. Each player can can customise and upgrade their character, with a number of perks and abilities.

This title is free on PS Now and can be purchased for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

MediEvil

PS1 fans will recognise this PS4 remake of the quirky, Gothic themed action-adventure. You play as Sir Daniel Fortesque, as an evil sorcerer resurrects the dead, in order to take over the world. Known as a mighty warrior, Sir Dan was a clumsy fighter, who got killed in the last battle with Zarok. He is also risen from the dead, to make amends. 

Battle through levels set in spooky locations, as you try to defeat an army of spirits and the undead, in order to reach Zarok. Earn new weapons and abilities to unlock new paths in levels, which take on a Metroid-Vania approach. Solve puzzles and completing tasks in multiple levels, in order to progress to the end.

Phasmophobia

Join a team of up to four people, as you play this co-op paranormal, ghost hunting game. Use equipment to gather evidence, investigate your surroundings and track the specters throughout chilling locations.

This title is currently available for PC.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard 

This entry into the long-running horror series, brings it back to a tension filled storyline. It sees you play as Ethan, on the trail of your lost wife Mia. As you arrive at a dilapidated house, you will uncover a dark secret of the occupants. The horror is even more intensive, as you play in first-person (or even VR on PS4 or PC).
