Let us just give you a heads up straight away. The following trailer and article contains * SPOILERS * for Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is the first film that will release post-Endgame. It gives some insight to the current world and how things have changed in Peter Parker’s life. The trailer also teases the possible future of the MCU going forward. Watch the trailer below, but heed Tom Holland’s * SPOILER WARNING *!

Still here? Good, so let us talk about the hulk buster in the room.

The world, including Peter, is still in mourning over the passing of Tony Stark. With murals painted across New York, Peter continues his duties as Spider-Man but is hesitant into stepping into a bigger role. Believing he should just be the friendly neighbourhood crime fighter, Nick Fury recruits him for some global heroism. The trailer even tackles why other superheros aren’t contacted, with Thor off-world and Captain Marvel unavailable.

Enter Quentin Beck, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. It turns out, he’s from a different universe, which was supposedly caused by a rift between dimensions opening up after the ‘snap’. To which particular snap is unknown, but likely linked to the one which brought back the dusted. Beck seems to be a very competent ‘hero’ in his own right, but needs the help of others to take down The Elementals seen throughout the trailer. He may even be looked upon as an Iron Man figure in his world, as he says the line

You may not be ready, but this is my responsibility

This may also hint at Mysterio’s true nature, as it may all be a setup to look the part of the hero, with the incident being caused by Beck himself perhaps.

Peter is also dealing with normal adolescent life, as feelings for MJ are brought up, enjoying life with his friends and doubt on his continued role as a hero look to be explored. Whether the multi-verse is truly the direction of where the MCU in heading or the rift in dimensions story could be an elaborate trick or illusion by Beck’s Mysterio is unknown for now. Spider-Man: Far From Home is certainly set to answer some questions, while teeing up future films no doubt.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into cinemas on July 2nd.
