Gearbox Software have teased an upcoming announcement for March 28th. The cell shaded image found on their social media sites, is reminiscent of the art style of a certain Borderlands franchise. It’s based on a road sign and points to Boston Massachusetts, which will host PAX East between March 28th-31st. Another clue pointing to it being the fully fledged, next-gen sequel of Borderlands 3, is on the exit sign, where it looks like a number three is included.
Borderlands was a cult hit, finding huge success with Borderlands 2. Its solid shooting mechanics, quirky & witty dialogue and great art style lead to high scores from fans and critics alike. Borderlands had a number of spin-offs and semi-sequels, with Tales from the Borderlands and the Pre-Sequel releasing. It also had a remaster collection of 2 and Pre-Sequel in 2015, but fans have been calling for a true sequel for many years.
Expect more news on Borderlands 3, as well as other Gearbox properties like Band of Brothers or maybe even Duke Nukem, when they have a studio show on March 28th at PAX East.
